When the MacBook Air was released, it was the thinnest notebook computer yet. A minimalist port design and multitouch trackpad are characteristic of the MacBook Air.
In October of 2010, Apple introduced a total redesign of the MacBook Air 13". The new Air features a flash memory module instead of a conventional hard drive, and the battery dominates most of the internal space. This lack of conventional hard drive allows the machine to be insanely thin.
