- | [* black] Shimming is basically the the task of placing your gear in such a distance from each gear will perform at it's best. What we airsofters call shims are in many ways more like little washers that goes on the axles of each gear. |

- | [* black] The goal is to have the gear so that do not bounce meaning to go up and down or bind meaning that they are being pressed against each other and creating frictions. |
- | [* black] The teeth of each gear also have to make good contact with each other if the teeth do not have only a small area of contact then that will put alot of pressure on a small area and cause the teeth to fail over time. |
