    • Open the lid, remove the silicone screw covers and undo the screws.

    • Watch the silicone covers! Don't loose them.

    • Be careful not to damage the plastic during this step! Using a plastic opening tool instead of a screwdriver may be advisable.

    • Watch out, the hinges are spring loaded. They tend to fly away when tension is relieved.

    • As said in the previous step, be careful when removing the springs. They tend to fly away!

    • Pull out the connector, be careful and only pull the connector and not the wires to avoid damaging them in the process.

    • The battery is fixed in place with double sided tape. Make sure not to bend and damage the battery when taking it out.

    • Please note the correct type of battery! These batteries are easily available but failing to use the right one may result in damage to your Waka Waka!

    • Now put your Waka Waka back together in reverse order. Please note that it may take some time to figure out how to deal with the loaded springs of the hinge when putting it back together. It depends on how you hold it what works best. There is not one 'right' way to do it.

Where can you buy these batteries to use as replacement? Thanks for a great tutorial :)

I suppose you’ve already found them over a year after your question, but for anybody new to this tutorial: they are easily found on websites such as Aliexpress or Ebay, since Ifixit unfortunately doesn't sell them.

Harm -

What should be the voltage on the battery connector with disconnected battery. My measurement is 1,5V DC and is this ok?

I have 2 of these devices both with failing batteries. I contacted WakaWaka for replacement batteries and they offered to recycle the devices but couldn’t/wouldn’t supply the batteries or replace them as a service return. Although the idea of the WakaWaka Power is a sound proposition it is flawed and a few years down the line I find myself with two useless pieces of junk that I cannot replace the cells in, I can indeed strip them down as described but not purchase the cell to effect a repair. I will never buy products from them again and suggest everyone else does the same.

Can anyone point me towards the correct or direct replacement battery for the WakaWaka Power and Power+.

Hi there! You're explaination is super helpful, I'm only struggling to find a new battery.. I'm not that technical and I find it a bit difficult to know which size exactly and what I need to keep in mind. Do you maybe have the exact link of the one you bought?
