    • Flip the watch over so that the face is down.

    • Using a Y#0 screwdriver, unscrew the four 3.5 millimeter tri-head screws.

    • Remember to turn off the watch to avoid being shocked.

The warning to turn off the watch to avoid electrical shock was a joke, right?!

    nanev - 返信

The screws don't seem to be turning easily. What's the best way to loosen them without stripping them?

    Mark Franz - 返信

I’m going to be shocked by a dead 3.8V battery? Of course, only if the watch is powered on. Ridiculous statements like this do not reflect positively on the credibility of this entire procedure. If the author seriously thinks this is a danger then I question your basic understanding of electronics.

    Alex Tatistcheff - 返信

… to avoid being shocked when you lose your data! :)

    • Using your finger, push forward on the release while pulling up on the strap.

    • You may find it helpful to use the flat end of a spudger to push on the release instead of your finger.

The bracelet should be removed first!

    • Repeat the procedure from step 2 for the other strap.

    • Insert a plastic opening tool between the top and bottom portions of the case, and gently pry off the back.

    • Do not insert the tool more than 3 millimeters into the case. Inserting more than 3 mm may damage the seal and electric components.

My watch had sticky glue between the top and bottom portions of the case. I don’t think my watch will be as waterproof after this repair.

    • Using the flat end of a spudger, pry up the motherboard.

    • Make sure the cable is fed through the hole to avoid damaging it.

    • The motherboard is attached to the battery casing, so place the motherboard in the orientation shown once freed.

    • Using tweezers, lift the battery casing.

    • Make sure the cables are fed through their gaps to avoid damaging them.

Looking for information on gear 2 smartwatch. Not gear S2. Not at all the same model. The gear 2 is by far still the ultimate smartwatch on the market. Any objections?

    Kevin Vance - 返信

I was unable to remove the battery casing as described in this step. I proceeded to pry the battery out with a spudger from the top instead of pushing out from the bottom as described in step 9. Successful!

  9. Samsung Gear S2 Battery Replacement: 手順 9、 2の画像 1 Samsung Gear S2 Battery Replacement: 手順 9、 2の画像 2
    • Flip the battery casing over and using a spudger, push on the battery to free it from the casing.

    • Once the battery is free, use the flat end of a spudger to lift up the battery cable.

My watch was a little different with only one screw holding the mother board. Still helped immensely. I would say to make sure the cables click into place when replacing them. Thankx for the only instructions I could find on doing this…

    Kevin Goeta-kreisler - 返信

    I did the repair.

Due to the age of the watch, the seal stuck to the top and bottom.

The watch is no longer airtight and I have to be careful with water.

The battery is glued in its housing, so remove it carefully.

The glue was then no longer usable, so I put the battery back in without glue.

After the repair, the watch works fine again.

    (Google translater!)

    Wilhelm Gregorius - 返信

Topp!

I have the Gear S2 3G version R730V and purchased a battery thinking these instructions would work, but once I opened the watch it is not the same as the one above. Does anyone have instructions on how to replace the batter on the R730V??

Irene - 返信

Irene I just replaced the battery on my wife’s S2 3g from Verizon. Differences from above are. There is only 1 Philips 3.6 millimeter screw holding the mother board. There are also 5 cables that need to be disconnected. The mother board completely disconnects from the watch. There is no battery casing. Just remove the battery cable, the cable is the one with the little hole on one side and then use a spudger to lift the battery out which seems to have a sticky side to it holding it in. Then reverse order to put everything back together.

Russ Brewer -

just did fix and Russ Brewer is correct for the 3g versions. Thanks internet

James Thomas -

I have the watch in the 3G version - R370V . I purchased a battery for it thinking these instructions would work, but once I got it open I see it’s different. I can’t find the instructions anywhere. Can anybody here help?

Irene - 返信

What battery did you buy?

Russ Brewer, Thank you. I finally got it apart and find that I was sent the wrong battery! Not what I wanted to find, but thanks for your help!

What battery do you replace for the s2 gear class smv 730v

Monica - 返信

Have people been finding that replacing the battery really does help? My watch has been sitting in a drawer for the last year because the battery didn’t last more than a few hours, but everything I found online at the time pointed toward it being a software issue after an update. A battery problem - that sounds like something I know how to handle!

drydencm - 返信

Well done! Clear, logical, precise and easy to follow instructions, accompanied by good photos. Replacement easily done! thank you.

these instruction work only for 250 mah battery and version of the watch that supports it

Samsung Galaxy Gear s2 has 300mah battery and completely different

be careful when you order it.

also the screw driver Tool that iFix it for removing the back cover doesn’t work, it is way too big to get inside small holes

unable to unscrew the back.ordered the fixit y0 tool and it doesn’t work. ordered some other y0 screwdriver and not able to get it to work either. would like to know where to get the y0 tool used in the photos.

thanks

charles pritt - 返信

The screws are held in with blue glue. Be careful opening it as the screws can strip. I had a !&&* of a time getting 3 of them out and stripped one so I need to buy the extractor kit. Y0 should do the trick though.

Mark Franz -

Super Anleitung. Mit etwas Mut ist das kein Problem. Eventuell die Beispielfotos etwas vergrößen. Vielen Dank und weiter so!

Felix Raddatz - 返信

Hi, great steps. Thank you so much.. where can i find the battery itself though?

Fungai Felix Makoni-Muchemwa - 返信

Like Charles Pritt I was unable to unscrew the back with the recommended Y0 tool.

Greg Bartley - 返信

I have a Gear 2 and my watch looks nothing like that pictured. I followed the steps anyway and the watch is now working again. Just be careful not to lose those very little screws, to make a note of which way the back and band goes on and that you have the proper tools. I bought a kit on ebay with the battery but the special Y screwdriver was too big to fit the screws. I had to get another smaller screwdriver.

Jamie Frank - 返信

I also had one screw that was stripped. What I did was put the very thin pry tool in and separated the case after I removed three screws. The stripped screw wasnt holding anything so the case opened.

Jamie Frank - 返信

hey :) its real to do ???!!

does anybody know how to fix gear s2 not charging due to battery temperature warning? I could not find where is the battery sensor

MaxsBoy - 返信

The Driver is actually a #00 driver and not a #0

other than that the guide was spot on.

Christopher Rose - 返信

Dont remove the battery casing, you may end up destroy the screen when you push it back. Battery can be removed by lifting it on the side with a plastic spudger.

After replacing the battery, the watch boots up and the display says, “Samsung Gear S2” while it ‘s starting, then the screen goes black. My phone connects to it, so I know it’s on, but the screen stays black. I pulled everything apart and carefully put it back together, but it’s still not working. I did a hard reboot, and the same thing happens. Any suggestions?

Fred Farkle - 返信

I have the same problem, after replacing the battery it keeps restarting, any ideas? thanks

fuad ansari - 返信

Is there an upgraded battery that can be used with this product? (i.e changing out for a similar size 3.8V 600mAh battery)

ajyatsko - 返信

Pretty good guide. I combined it with this one, which had a bit more precision on a few steps (Samsung Gear S2 Classic Disassembly). Looks like I damaged one of the ribbon cables though connecting to the display, because now the bottom 1/4 of the screen no longer lights up, and there’s a vertical red line of pixels on the right-side of the display. Might want to pay special attention to whichever cable powers the screen.

I have the original Gear S2 Classic. Ordered the Y0 screwdriver from the above link, but It needs a Y00. Fortunately I had one. Please check Y0 vs. Y00.
