If you are having issues with keeping a charge or your battery is dead, use this guide to properly replace your batteries.

  1. Have the front of the device facing you.

    • Place plastic opening tool between the front and back panels.

    • If a plastic opening tool doesn’t work, using a metal spudger may work, but it may damage the plastic on the device.

    • Remember to remove the micro SD card (if present) before you begin.

  2. Once the plastic opening tool is fully inserted, wedge it around device’s edges to separate the panels. Lift the back panel off of the device.

    • The back panel will make a clicking noise while being lifted off of the device.

  4. First, disconnect the battery by carefully flipping up the retaining flap on the orange ribbon connector. Starting with the white ribbon cable, carefully flip up the retaining flap on the ZIF connector.

    • Slide out the ribbon cable.

  5. Flip up the retaining flap on the ZIF connector with the black ribbon cable. Slide out the ribbon cable. Slide out the ribbon cable.

    • Slide out the ribbon cable.

  6. Flip up retaining flap on the ZIF connector.
    • Flip up retaining flap on the ZIF connector.

    • Slide out orange ribbon cable.

  7. Use Phillips # 000 to remove ten of the 4 mm .3 cm screws around the battery. Slide a plastic opening tool under the bottom of the battery close to the speakers and lift up.

    • The large rectangular white and black piece is the entire battery, be careful not to puncture it.

Used this guide up until the disconnecting of the battery in order to fix the black screen of death. Very very helpful. Thank you.

If you have my kind of bad luck — where the latch for the battery flex cable connector sticks to the tape when you remove the tape, and then it will not snap back into place — don’t worry about it too much, because the connector tension will hold the flex cable in place. Just put the tape back over the top as directed.
