Disassembly is the first step, which requires something thin like a mini pry bar or even your fingernails, specifically to remove the lower mouse skate at the flat bottom side of the mouse.

After removing the mouse skate, there are screws for which the Phillips screwdriver is used to unscrew and detach the bottom layer of the mouse.

To separate the bottom and top layer, begin lifting the bottom half of the mouse.
Next, apply some pressure by pushing the slighted lifted top layer towards the hinges seen in the second picture. Then, the entire top layer can be lifted off.

The battery is located towards the lower end of the mouse in a rectangular housing, where the palm would usually rest above, along with wires connecting to its white 3-pin slot towards the opposite side of the battery location. Remove the connector, located in the second picture by the red circle, from its slot and the battery.
The new battery can now be attached in the opposite manner as the detached battery by connecting the 3-pin connector in its slot.
The connector pin can initally be tightly secured meaning you might require slightly more force than you expect to detach the pin. Be wary of the surrounding parts near the pin as to not damage the rest of the mouse.

Reassembly is simply steps 2 through 4 in reverse order.
However, when finishing with step 2, the bottom mouse skate can be easily applied without the user of fingernails or the mini pry bar.
