These switched-outlet powerstrips are expensive. Over time the rocker switches can become frozen, usually due to not being used for a while. Also, the better powerstrips have spring-loaded covers over the plug insert holes which can also seize up. I decided to see if I could fix it rather than replace it.

After removing the backplate, remove the four screws that secures the internal assembly to the box.

The disassembled powerstrip. The rocker switches are in the section removed from the box. In the box, there are spring-loaded covers where the appliance power plugs are inserted. These covers prevent dirt entering the box.

Spray a very small amount of WD40 into the rocker mechanism of each switch. Then manipulate the switches until they move freely.

Each cover plate has a small spring, these can be rusty which will prevent the covers moving, thereby preventing the insertion of an appliance plug.
