The leading cause of your dry erase markers drying out is leaving it uncapped for a long period of time. Restoring dried out dry erase markers is a simple process that you can do with materials at home. To follow this guide you will need a dry erase marker, alcohol or vinegar, and a bowl.

    • Collect all of the markers you want to restore.

    • Obtain isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) or vinegar.

    • Pour a small amount of either alcohol or vinegar into a small bowl, using enough to cover the tip of the markers.

    • Soak the tip of the markers in the alcohol or vinegar until the ink comes out of the tip of the marker.

    • Place the cap back on the marker.

    • Let the marker sit tip side up for at least 24 hours. The alcohol should penetrate inside the tip of the marker.
