If you have a favorite outfit or item with a jammed zipper and don't have time to replace it, don't worry! This guide demonstrates a technique to fix old zippers using a bar of soap.
Before using this guide, check your clothing for flaws near the zipper, such as tears or loose threads.

Look at the zipper to check if the fabric is stuck in the track or if the zipper is the problem before you begin the fix.

Try to zip the zipper.

Once you confirm it does not zip, proceed to the next step.

Slide the zipper down to its base or the starting point of the zipper track.

Pull both sides of the fabric sides away from the zipper track.

Hold the sides of the fabric to pull it away from the midline of the zipper track and try to zip the zipper again.

If you know the zipper is getting caught, keep working it until it doesn't get stuck.

Check the track and nearby areas for any flaws. Look for scuffs and skewed zippers.

This may show the problem with the zipper track.

Return the zipper pull to its starting point without jamming further.

Rub the bar of soap on the zipper track that is stuck.

Begin unzipping and zipping as far as you can.

Repeat steps 1-7 if the first time did not work or you have more of the zipper to cover.

Once the zipper is moving smoothly up and down the track, clean the zipper if too much soap has accumulated.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

A pair of pliers that I believe are called Rebar pliers is easier to use when tightening the glider. That is because the material often is quite thick and a straight nosed plier is held apart by it if the glider is not very big, on the side away from the opening. On the open side it is no problem.
