はじめに

Follow this guide to learn how to replace the touchpad for the HP Mini 110-3131dx. Make sure the laptop is powered off before starting. There are many fragile parts so use caution when interacting with them. There will be a lot of screws of different sizes and lengths so make sure to have a clean area and a safe place to put your parts when performing the replacement. The touchpad can jam or break after years of use and this guide will teach users to how to replace the touchpad.

    • Completely turn off the laptop before trying to remove the battery.

    • Turn the laptop upside down, and find the sliding tabs located on the battery.

    • Slide both tabs in an inward direction, then slide the battery away from the laptop.

  2. Turn the laptop upright and open it. Disconnect the clips located around the perimeter of the keyboard. Starting from the left or right side, slide the ifixit opening tool between the top edge of the keyboard and the plastic bezel.

    • Be careful not to pull the keyboard out too fast because there is a fragile ribbon cable that attaches to the motherboard behind the keyboard.

  3. Tilt the keyboard toward you to reveal the ribbon cable.

    • Pull the ribbon cable out of its container.

  4. Using the Phillips Head #1 screwdriver remove the 6 black screws around the perimeter of the bottom of the laptop. Be sure to keep track of which screws go where as they are not all the same size.

    • Flip the laptop over and remove the 6 black screws indicate by the orange circles.

  5. Locate the black and white tab on the right hand side that connects the touchpad ribbon cable to the motherboard. Using your fingernail or the iFixit Opening tool, flip the black tab up to release the ribbon cable.

    • Using your fingernail or the iFixit Opening tool, flip the black tab up to release the ribbon cable.

    • Locate the red and black wires on the left hand side of the bezel.

    • Using your fingers or a plastic opening tool, disconnect these wires from the mother board.

  6. Lift the bezel from the back end and slide the iFixit Opening tool around the perimeter of the bezel until it is fully released.

  7. Turn the keyboard bezel  so that the touchpad is close to you. Dissassemble the ribbon cable from the receptacle on the touchpad circuit board. The ribbon cable will not tear apart because it is attached to the bracket that holds the touchpad in place.

    • Take out the four 2.9mm screws from the bracket using a Phillips head #0 screwdriver.

    • To detach the touchpad, simply thrust the touchpad from the top of the keyboard bezel on the touch-sensitive side.

    • This should not require any force.
