The Gardena B/S-XL garden shears uses a leaf spring to open the shears when closed. If the spring is broken, you can still use the shears, but it won't open automatically.
This manual will show how to replace this spring when broken.

-
While holding the shears in a vise, undo the T30 bolt holding the 2 blades together.
-
-
-
Remove the first part of the broken spring from the handle.
-
Pull the blade from the handle.
-
Remove the second part of the broken spring from the handle. If it is stuck, you can use a flathead screwdriver to wriggle it loose.
-
-
-
-
Slide the new spring into the handle, and make sure there is room for the blade behind it.
-
Slide it in as far as it will go.
-
Push the blade back in until the handle hole aligns with the blade hole. This will put tension on the spring.
-
-
-
Apply some threadlock on the bolt.
-
Align both blades and insert the nut. Screw in the bolt partially.
-
Ensure the spring is level and pushing against the other blade.
-
Fasten the bolt while opening and closing the shears to make sure it is neither to loose or too tight, and also to verify the spring is working correctly.
