Canon EOS Rebel XS 35mm Bottom Cover and More Replacement

This is a necessary procedure for replacing certain parts on the bottom of the Canon EOS Rebel XS 35mm camera (after removal of the bottom cover). This guide details how to remove the these parts and put them back in, whether they're the same parts now fixed, or a new parts. The parts include two small metal plates, washers, screws, and gears.

    • Remove 6 screws using a PH000 Screwdriver.

    • Remove 1 (7mm) screw

    • Remove 5 (4mm) screws

    • With your fingers, push on the bottom cover with a horizontal force until it clicks and separates.

    • With tweezers - although you can also use your fingers - you may remove these 5 gears (shown with colored squares around them) and place them somewhere else for the time being. They fall out easily while you're working, so this will help you stay organized.

    • Remove the 5mm silver Phillips #000 screw.

    • Remove three 4mm Phillips #000 screws.

    • Remove the silver plate with tweezers or fingers.
