Using a 2.5 mm hex wrench, remove the two 13 mm screws from the bottom of the speaker.

Using the screwdriver with the T-10 star tip, remove the 6.75 mm. screws marked in red.

Carefully remove the battery by pulling it out of the speaker.

We managed to purchase a replacement battery in NZ for this speaker - but they’re hard to come by! We tried AliExpress (similar to eBay) however that didn’t work very well, because the poor fit around the edge seal was not tight and caused these horrible vibrations. So we ended up getting one from Bose’s themselves, after a few calls to their help desk.
The battery was around $180NZD but worth it as the SoundLink II is fantastic. Here’s to hopefully at least 5 more years!

I bought it in Michigan in 2012 and now the red led is flashing probably indicating battery end of life.
I live in Brazil but I have brother in low living in Miami. Do you know if BOSE sells this batteries for replacement?

Where i can buy one them battery model?
Just ordered a “Used, in good shape”, and it seems to be, however, it’s the REALLY original model, with the solid flap on the front, that turns into the stand. SN: 054867920870604AE. Guessing this is NOT the “Soundlink II”, but the original model. Instructions that came with it claim battery will last up to 3 hours. JUST IN CASE this battery is shot, was looking into what’s involved to replace it. However, mine being older, wondering if this battery would still fit?

It was a lot of effort, we tried AliExpress (similar to eBay) however that didn’t work very well. Because of the poor fit around the edges, sound escaped and caused these horrible vibrations. The cheaper knock offs are worse, don’t bother! After a few calls, we finally got to Bose’s New Zealand repair shop who said they had stock, and we installed it ourselves in 5 minutes.

My speaker’s battery indicator is flashing red all the time. I spoke to Bose and said it’s too old to repair. Can anyone please advise what to do?
Just changed the battery on an old Mexican manufactured unit - no need of Torx: both sets of bolts use 2.5mm hex. Replacement battery has a lot higher capacity (according to the label). Original was China assembled with Japanese cells - the new one is probably all Chinese and has a capacity of 3400 mAh compared to 2100 mAh of the original. Wonderfully easy compared to another Bose bluetooth speaker that I changed the battery for a year or two ago. No digging out bolt head covers with a metal pry - plastic or bamboo wasn't strong enough and they ended up a bit chewed.
From the voltage and the form of the battery casing, I suspect that it has three cylindrical Li-ion cells - it would probably more environmentally friendly to take it apart and change the cells - but that would probably mean tackling glued or plastic welded joints on the casing and digging out a soldering iron as was the case on the other Bose speaker.
My Boze came with a "leather" case, so step one was correct using a hex wrench (if you have the leather case, pay attention to how far the screws are into the leather, as it is possible to overscrew them and damage the leather). For the second step, I had to gently bend the leather case away from the back (<1 inch) and use the 10 Torx (star) socket to remove the screws, elevate the old battery out, seat the new battery, and replace all 4 screws. Am waiting for the replacement to charge and calibrate. My old battery was still working, but showed a random undercharged (yellow) battery light, so it was just a matter of time: I think the battery was 15 years old.
