はじめに

A positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) plate increases the longevity of your oil by reusing unburnt gas. It is also required for emissions. When installing your PCV plate, there could be a faulty gasket creating an oil leak. If you notice an oil leak coming from your PCV plate, there is a good chance it is because the gasket isn’t sealing properly. This guide will walk you through how to properly replace the gasket.

  1. Pop the hood and remove the plastic battery cover. Pop the hood and remove the plastic battery cover.

  2. Using a 1/4 inch flex head ratchet and a 1/4 inch shallow 10mm socket, loosen the battery cable tightening nut.

  3. Remove the vacuum line from the front of the intake by gently pulling up on the line releasing it from the clamps.

  4. Disconnect the MAP sensor.

  5. Using a  1/4 inch 7mm deep socket and 1/4 inch flex head wrench, loosen the worm clamp on the cold air intercooler pipe. Using a  1/4 inch 7mm deep socket and 1/4 inch flex head wrench, loosen the worm clamp on the cold air intercooler pipe.

  7. Using a 1/4 inch 10mm wobbly socket, 1/4 inch 8 inch extension, and 1/4 inch ratchet, remove all 5 of the cap screws holding the intake to the cylinder head. Using a 1/4 inch 10mm wobbly socket, 1/4 inch 8 inch extension, and 1/4 inch ratchet, remove all 5 of the cap screws holding the intake to the cylinder head.
    • Using a 1/4 inch 10mm wobbly socket, 1/4 inch 8 inch extension, and 1/4 inch ratchet, remove all 5 of the cap screws holding the intake to the cylinder head.

  8. Remove the intake out of the engine bay by lifting and pulling the intake towards you.

  9. Unplug both left and right engine ground strap connections. Unplug both left and right engine ground strap connections.
    • Unplug both left and right engine ground strap connections.

  10. Using a 1/4 inch 8mm deep socket, remove the 8 PCV plate mounting bolts.
    • Using a 1/4 inch 8mm deep socket, remove the 8 PCV plate mounting bolts.

  11. Remove the PCV plate and the old PCV plate gasket.
    • Remove the PCV plate and the old PCV plate gasket.

  12. Wipe down the mounting surface and the inside of the PCV plate with a shop rag.

  13. Install the new PCV plate gasket.
    • Install the new PCV plate gasket.

  14. Reinstall the PCV plate on the side of the engine block. Torque the PCV plate mounting bolts to 89 inch pounds.
    • Reinstall the PCV plate on the side of the engine block.

    • Torque the PCV plate mounting bolts to 89 inch pounds.
