The purpose of a tail/ brake light is to make your car visible during nighttime and heavy weather conditions and to communicate to the driver behind you that you are slowing down or stopping. A broken tail/ brake light is dangerous to yourself and the drivers around you. You could also get pulled over and receive a citation if your tail light is out.

Before beginning the repair, park in a safe location, turn the car off and put the emergency brake on.

Open the trunk and locate the fender clips.
These are located near the tail lights.

Use the 3/16 inch flathead screwdriver to remove the top fender clip holding the tail light on.

Remove the lower fender clip.
This will release the tail light so be careful.

Remove the tail light to expose the light bulb.

Twist the light bulb to remove it from the holder.
Replace the old bulb with the new one. make sure to twist the new bulb to secure it.
Do not touch the new light bulb with your bare hands as the oil from your fingers will cause it to degrade faster and possibly shatter.
