  1. Turn your vehicle off, and let the engine bay cool before starting the following steps. First, open the driver side door, and reach under the steering wheel and release the latch to open up the hood of your truck. Next, walk over to either of the headlights and remove the pin above the headlight to release the housing unit.

    • Make sure to put the pin in a safe location so you can lock in the housing once you finish replacing the light bulbs.

  2. Pinch the blue clips and remove them from the back of the wiring harness. After removing the pin, you should now be able to tilt the headlight downward to gain access to all of the wires. Twist the light bulb counter clockwise and gently remove the harness and the light bulb.

  3. Unbox your new low beam light, and insert it into the same hole you took the old one out of. Be sure to twist the bulb clockwise until it locks into place with the harness pointing down. Plug the blue wiring harness back in until you hear a click, and it should now be locked back into place.

my left bulb has a single insert and my right bulb has two insert grooves. Why?

That last post includes the same scenario for both high and low beam bulbs. 2003 1500 Sierra

  4. Begin to replace the headlight housing back into its original place by tucking in the wires. Grab the pin that you took out at the beginning and insert it back into the housing unit. Align the housing back with the guide holes for the pin.

Always perplexes me when a “guide” is incorrect. There are to tabs on the bottom of the reflector assembly that are inserted into two slots in the headlight assembly bracket and require that you lift it straight up after pulling the top locking pin out. In addition you must rock the assembly out from behind the trim piece at the grill. You can’t get to squat after pulling the pin on the top and the assembly will NOT tilt out enough to allow access to anything. Pull the pin; lift the assembly up; and pull the outside end toward you then remove the whole unit, the connecting wires are long enough to allow this. Sheeze if you are going to put up instructions at least make sure you know what you are doing!

    • Be sure to check your headlight alignment. This can be done by a professional or through Youtube videos.

FYI: don't touch the bulbs with bare hands. The oil from your fingers will cause them to burn out early.
