Okay, I have an Acura TSX (Euro Accord) with the K24A engine, which is similar, and can assure you that you do not need to remove all these connections and hoses just to open the engine air cleaner . The AIR CLEANER COVER (where the filter lives) can be gently lifted up sufficiently to open up, remove the AIR CLEANER ELEMENT ASSY (filter), vacuum out debris from AIR CLEANER CASE, and install a new filter.

For a 2006 Accord L4, you definitely need to remove the air intake hose as the front lip of the air cleaner box will not clear the inner fender by about 1/4" on the left side. Never had problems with any other newer or older hondas and toyotas with having to remove the air intake hose to open the air cleaner box. This is why I came here for advice. thanks OP.

You use metric tools on Hondas because they are a foreign car. Use an 8mm socket with an extension to remove the screws from the air filter cover.
