Why my batery charge but wont turn on without ac adapter?

hi i have a mb pro that i can power on only with the cable cord but no only a batery. i try smc reset i clean the conector and the port of the batery the pins are in good condition and also i bought a new batery and it can charge but im still no power on only batery just whit the ac adapter, the batery indicator from my left can blink only with the ac adapter but whiout the ac dont work and that happens sudenly and i want help please thanks.

thanks i try everithing and no luck another help?? also i upgrade to mountain lion and i see now in the battery says service battery with and sing or something but no luck

You'll have to find out wether the machine charges the battery at all. If you have access to a multimeter measure the charging pins. The two outer ones are gound, the three inner ones should read something around 3.58 V each.

If that is not the case you'll have trouble with the SMC (more likely and more troubling) or the DC in (Magsafe) board which is rather unlikely since your machine powers up on AC.

Lights don't tell the whole story - look under System Profiler:Power for charger status and battery status (what the battery circuit board informs the computer about it's condition). You could have a damaged or faulty battery connection or power circuit. I've seen a cracked battery do this - something was piled on top of the laptop (while it was in a case in an overhead bin on an airplane) and cracked a corner on the battery so flexing the laptop, putting it in or taking it out of a case, could cause the problem to appear/disappear.
