Can you identify this small part?

hello,

i took apart a friends phone to replace a shattered screen for her, everything went fine, and from what i can tell everything in the phone is working properly.

i am concerned tho, i was left with this piece, and no idea where it goes. it is a small metal clip with what appears to be a contact point. i cannot recall at which stage in my teardown this peice came loose. here are some images of the thing.

This goes on top of the iPhone 4 wifi antenna/bracket. It is very important part without that your wifi signal will be very weak.

See this picture here to get better idea.

The small piece of rubber goes on top of the edge of the logic board, to the left of the small bracket john answered about. It is a spacer that holds the top cables aligned.

Just a search on Ebay for "iPhone 4 screws" gives this a result like this. Is this what you are looking for?

Not sure about the small rubber piece. Probably the iPhone will work without it but the washer/spacer you are referring (to the right of the white arrow handle on my picture) to has threads so it is supposed to support the screw. This slid left once and I didn't understand why the screw would not keep in place. Moved it back and all was well. The spacer is part of the logic board. Not sure if you can find it. If you can't find it the black cover will still stay in place and does not affect the positioning of the logic board.

Any idea where I can purchase 2 things:

1. That small rubber piece

2. The very small washer / spacer that allows the 2nd to the left screw [right below the digitizer or lcd connector] on the wifi antenna shield to screw into place.

I would really appreciate anyone's help.

Dimwits over at UBreakIFix, lost both pieces during a lock button replacement on my iPhone 4 (GSM).

asle, thanks for the eBay browsing idea. Unfortunately the 40+ sets I looked at do not contain the washer I am looking for.

It is a thicker height washer, but smaller in diameter. Its metal, and (if I recall correctly) has groves/ridges on i,t and sits under the Wi-Fi antenna, and under that "Y" looking piece on the right side of the logic board (just before the logic board makes a 90 degree turn to the right).

In the iFixit guide for the teardown its what the Yellow-circled 1.4 mm Phillips screw for the Wi-Fi antenna, screws into. (The 2nd screw from the left of the phone... on the bottom of the Wi-Fi antenna) - http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/diPxJ...

You can see it here, sitting underneath that small metal Y piece on the logic board: which is right below the right-side of the plugged-in LCD cable:

http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/AhMYp...

You can also see it in that above picture you posted, from the top-down view. Or you can take off your wifi antenna, and simply take a knife and scoop under that Y thing, and see the metal washer come out, which is what I am talking about :P

It gets lose once that 1.4mm screw is removed, and will typically fall out when the logic board is taken out. But the personnel over at UBreakiFix, I guess forgot(??) to put it back in, and so now I cannot fully screw in my Wi-Fi antenna. I am not sure of any other effects it causes, but I get scared whenever the phone may drop, that not everything is properly screwed in, internally.

That is not a washer really but part of the logic board cover right there. Typically I have bent the small projected piece that holds the "washer" (and the thread has fallen out) and must bend it back or reshape it to hold the part in place. That part of the shield holds the back part of the screw so if it is gone I don't know how you can buy it without taking a part from a broken logic board. To be honest I don't think it matters if it is missing. Maybe just the feeling that something is missing frustrates you. I would just try leave out that screw and test if the phone works as intended.
