door won’t close properly and light stays on
why the microwave ie not turn off when close the doo
Hi @zoe80076
The door needs to close properly otherwise it won't operate the 3 door interlock switches.
These switches not only supply power to the magnetron in the oven (this produces the microwaves that heat the food), they also act as a safety device to ensure that the oven can't operate with the door open, which would allow harmful radiation to escape from the oven.
You need to find out what's stopping the door from closing properly.
This could be due to a few things e.g. faulty door hinge, loose door lock actuator, loose door interlock switch lever etc.
Be safety aware if you decide to open the oven to see what the problem could be. The HV capacitor in the oven can store >5000V DC for months even if the oven has been disconnected from the power for this length of time. This amount of voltage can seriously injure you. The HV capacitor needs to be correctly discharged as soon as the cover has been removed from the oven and before commencing any other work inside the oven.
If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful. Locate the wanted part in the list and note the manufacturer's part number that is shown for the part. Search online for the manufacturer's part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.
Here's the mini manual that may also help if you can't find the problem as it has a troubleshooting flowchart and a wiring diagram.
