Faulty obd receptacle and auxiliary fuse
How can I repair my faulty obd receptacle and why is my aux fuse keep blowing
When you say "faulty", exactly what does that mean? You plug in an OBD-II scanner and it doesn't work; is that it, or something else?
I'd say first thing is to check the connector and wires for damage; frayed wires, broken pins, etc. After that you'll probably have to check the wiring for power, ground and data to verify everything has continuity. Here's the wiring diagram for a 1996 C1500; it is probably the same for all of the models, but you can navigate to your exact model based on this link if needed.
If you're like me, these wiring diagrams are somewhat unfamiliar, but fortunately there's a whole section devoted to explaining them. Start at this link.
Down at the bottom, click on the Diagrams link, then Diagram Information and Instructions. The menu options there will let you explore the diagram and explain the terminology and symbols.
With regard to your auxiliary fuse problem, we could use some clarification there too. Are you referring to fuse #7 in the under dash fuse box, labelled AUX PWR? Here's the fuse diagram for that same truck.
According to the description it goes to a POWER OUTLET, so it should be fairly straight-forward to troubleshoot; with the fuse out check for continuity to ground on the center pin. If there is, you've got a short somewhere in the wiring that's blowing the fuse and will have to trace it down.
Hopefully this information will help you track down the issues you're having with your truck.

@dadibrokeit the OBDII connector should get its power from the cigarette lighter socket (auxiliary power connector). I would check that for a short. Disconnecting it might just remove the short from that line.

@tedguay Okay, so 2wd, so it's a C model not K. What's the load rating? C1500 is a half ton, C2500 is 3/4 ton and C3500 is a full ton. Also, is it manual or automatic transmission?
