Broken connector on a1990 motherboard?

Long story short, I've bought an used macbook pro 16 2019 for good price. After booting it up, it seemed like it didn't take a charge / no indication of battery installed in os (it only works plugged in on AC). The guy I bought it from stated that there was a fresh battery installed in it with O cycles, so I was suspicious. After opening it up, I can confirm that the battery is new, but there is a missing part from the motherboard (atleast to my knowledge), where one end of a cable (probably flexgate / something like that? I'm sorry, but | lack technical knowledge regarding macbooks) was supposed to be put in and ensure some function regarding battery.

Could somebody please tell me what does the cable do? Is this fixable (probably by microsoldering in local repairshop) or is it usable from now only while plugged in?

Thank you.

Well not good😣

It looks like the traces have been torn off when the ZIF connector was extracted! But you also have a problem on the other side as well as that ZIF connector is missing its compression latch!

So you'll need to get two connectors at least (best to buy three) one to carefully snap off the latch to then snap onto the current connector. They do tend to fly off in the process which is why you want a second. As to the logic board side this is going to take some deep soldering skills and trace patching to get it working.

As to what's this cable (you might need a new one if damaged) it is the communication between the batteries BMC logic and the main logic boards SMC battery charging control logic. It's needed for the computer to work properly.

You'll likely need to get the systems password and will need to have the previous owner remove it from his iCloud account so the system is free and clear. He may need to login via the TouchID to clear it as well.

@teodorbajzik what you are missing is the battery connector

Apple part number 518S0818 and the proper descriptor is FF14A-6C-R11DL-B-3H

. It is the same connector as Apple used for the microphone connector on the MacBook Pro A1425 as well as the A1502. It also looks like you have some damaged solder pads. You can try to rebuild those or you can solder some wire jumpers in its place. We will need to see a close-up image of that to try to evaluate this a bit better,
