All of a sudden I have very limited mobile connection

Overnight it seems like my mobile connection went from good to barely usable. Places on my property I used to be able to connect just don't work any more. When I'm out and about I often can't make a call. I see that there is a replacement antenna. Is there any way to diagnose this problem before ripping it apart and hoping that replacing the antenna will work?
