My xbox is acting weirdly and I can't seem to pinpoint why

So to make it short: i just got that xbox for free it powered on but had clear signs of trace rot, so i opened it and took off the clock capacitor, this made the symptoms worse so i looked at what trace was bad and soldered wires to bypass them, this worked and my xbox had no issues for about an hour before it went bad again, yesterday i tried the change the wires with new smaller ones but it didn't seems to work. There's a capacitor that's right under the clock one that looks bad but i'm not sure it's the cause of my issues or not.

Here's photos of the motherboard and a video of how the xbox acted right after the second wiring was done : https://imgur.com/a/ODIXlty

As of right now when i plug it in there's nothing but a dim red light.

Please help i just want to be able to play halo 2 :(

Hi!

That clock cap definitely leaked and caused damage.

Good thing that you have soldered it out and fixed the trace with a new cable.

First, I would clean the whole motherboard with isopropyl alcohol, as I still do see some residue of the clock cap on the motherboard. Please clean everything, inluding the small parts which are hard to reach (with a tooth brush or so).

Also the residue of the acid did go under some other caps, please clean those throughly as well.

If all that is done, please try again.

If it's still failing, it seems that the board took too much damage and a replacement is recommended...

You can replace the caps anyway. Take them all out, clean the board again completely and solder the new ones in. If that failed, I would replace the motherboard (there are plenty of them with broken disc drives, those disc drives are expensive...)

Edit: Flashing red = usually bad EEPROM. Did it had a TSOP? Maybe that one failed as well...

Thank you for your help, those photos are from before my second wiring, i already throughoutly cleaned the whole board when i changed the wire for smaller ones. From what i could see most capacitors looked good beside the one right under the clock one, i will try to replace this one and if it won't work either i will most likely buy a new motherboard (let's just hope it's not the power unit that's causing an issue).

Yes, the best thing to do is replacing that one and see how that works out. If that one also failed, then you might want to replace the motherboard... Too much damage killed it.

In my experience, I never had seen a PSU causing this kind of issues (yes I had some which were broken, but not showing these symptons). But you never know.. I don't think this is the case.
