If it starts up with starting fluid that's a pretty solid indication of a fuel problem. Have you tried pulling an injector and placing it in a jar when cranking the car? You should see a spray of fuel coming out; if not you could be looking at an electrical problem with the injectors, a fuel pressure regulator issue, or maybe the throttle body.
