Xbox PSU looks fine but won't turn on

Xbox was working ok but then one day it just won't turn on. I've tried different power cable and now opened it up. The PSU looks ok to me and I can't see any bulging or oozing capacitors. Any suggestions please? Thank you.

Thanks for the pictures! Those caps are OK.

Can you also share a picture regarding the clock capacitor? This one won't cause issues regarding the power, but is also very likely to fail.

If your Xbox want to turn on when you click the drive button (but not going on by the power button) it could be caused by the clock capacitor which damaged traces.

Alright, that capacitor is the “old” variant. I highly recommend to replace this one before it’s too late.

That is dust indeed, could also be leaked a little already there. Best thing is to solder that one out ASAP and get yourself a new one (or just leave without the clock capacitor, downside is that it will ask for the time and date all the time). It is better then to leave it there. If you want to replace it, replace it for an 2.5V 1F.

When it’s soldered out, use a lot of isopropryl alcohol and clean the whole area!! Make sure that all the dust and dirt is gone. When it’s like 100% clean, solder the new cap in it OR leave it like that.

Also make sure to clean with the isopropryl alcohol under the motherboard there as well.

Most likely you do have a power supply issue (those are known to get bad at the connector where the power cable goes in, the solder pads are bad there). But please also fix the clock capacitor.
