My brother bought an iPhone 3GS in Australia, now living in Belgium with it. He's fine with the old OS version, but soon I'm gonna get it and I wanna know if I can update the OS without it getting all blocked and such (We had to jailbreak it to get it to work normally again after an OS update)

check out your iphone status on dev.mk about the lock or unlocked status. if your iphone shows unlocked there then you can update your iphone 3gs to latest 5.1.1 . if you iphone is still locked to carrier the you cannot update the phone. if you update it then you have to do alot of things to unlock it . give me imei of you iphone i will check for you or unlock it if possible . thnx

I've checked the Imei on the site you gave me. It says it's unlocked. If you want to see for yourself: 011982000697116
So you have 32gb 3gs black . you can update your iphone to 5.1.1. nothing to worry about

Because the iPhone is Australian it blocked up when we updated it with the software from the Belgium store.
no need to do anything . just update it. software is same for all the iphones . country doesnot matter for software.
what about if it was been updated but the imei was not checked and the phone is stack at restore mode

current OS is like 3.1 something something. I'd like to get a newer version.

never version is 5.1.1 . you are using so old. i want to know the imei of the iphone. go to settings-general-about- imei-? then i tell you about the unlock or lock status thnx

on never version you can jailbreak too. you can put the never version apps also
