Multi-touch Gesture Control is out of service

Hi! I have this Magic Mouse Gen 1, and it has a problem that’s related to Gesture Control.

It sometimes responds to what I did, scrolling, tapping, but usually it’s almost nothing to smoothly control.

I’ve just been expecting this is hardware problem, so what do you think to fix this problem?

Appreciate your help!

Not much you can do for this rodent.

Make sure the battery contacts are clean of any junk and often times they get coated with a thin film of oxide which you can't see. Use a fresh (still soft) pink pencil eraser stick polishing the contacts within the holes and the plate side as well. Some batteries don't make good contact so you may need to try a second set.

Gesture Control Is dependent on a sensor which hugs the curved surface of the top which you can see in Step 9 in the Magic Mouseの分解 unless it's damaged in some way there's nothing you can do to fix that.

As far as the tracking the LED and sensor on the bottom can get dirty enough you'll loose the tracking of the movement as you shift the mouse. A small cotton swab can wipe the lenses and some compressed air to push it away.

Thank you for your answer.

I've just searched for other questions and probably found a solution.

I’ve experienced battery leak ago, and I cleaned up contacts and battery cases, but I haven’t seen inside of mouse yet, so perhaps the leak can be damaging them.

How dou you think of this? Thanks

@liberasspiritas -If you jump down to Step 7 in the Teardown you can see the sensor is connected to the base logic board. It's possible the leakage damaged that connection.

@danj Thanks! I’ll try it later!
