Why is my device slowed down with loud fans after battery replacement.

I am perfectly using my macbook pro 15" mid 2015 when I realised the battery is worn out and have reached a stage where I can't even switch the device on. So I took it to a repair shop for a battery replacement and the job was successful done. Well not 100% successful.

However, when I get back home and charged the device properly, I switched on. After it finished booting up and logged in to the system I started experiencing slow performance. It started getting lagged and the fans becoming too loud and interestingly, the temperature of the system remains normal. So is the device rejecting the battery?

I tried resetting the SMC but it didn't work, so is there any way to fix this issue, the device model is A1398 while the battery model A1618. Or should I just take it back to the repair shop or is there any way to let the system recognise the battery or calibrate it.

Please what should I do? advice me.

Your Mac is experiencing throttling issues. Macs have a tendency to act up when certain parts are defective or simply disconnected. While I would not think the Mac is "rejecting" the new battery, the chances are high that it is not detecting a certain component. Maybe even a component inside the battery.

So, do what @danj said, and run Apple Diagnostics. Make sure your MagSafe adapter is plugged in. If you receive any type of SMC error, that explains why your Mac is throttling.

If you cannot take your Mac back to the repair shop to get that fixed, there is a temporary fix with a program called OpenCore. OpenCore can disable all firmware throttling without harming your Mac.

First try Apple Diagnostics, and let's go from there.

After running the diagnostics tool it shows that there's an SMC error. Please how can I fix it. I tried removing the battery and press the power button for 10 seconds and I also tried holding Shift + Control + Option + Power button for 10 seconds but this device is still acting up. What do I do please?

@abdulbamally - So, SMC error only tells us so much. This means your battery could be failing, it tells us some other sensor could be failing, we don't really know what exactly. So, it's time to use OpenCore. I'll show you exactly what to do:

さんによる

@abdulbamally - First, grab a copy of the tool:

https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Leg...

Download the OpenCore-Patcher.pkg asset.

Install the package onto your Mac.

The OpenCore App will appear in your Applications Folder, open it.

Now inside the app, click Settings

Uncheck Show OpenCore Boot Picker and set the Boot Picker Timeout to 0.

Go to Extras, and check ONLY the following: Allow Apple ALC Audio, NVRAM WriteFlash, APFS Trim.

In Advanced, check ONLY the following: Disable Firmware Throttling, Hibernation Work-Around. Set FeatureUnlock to Disabled.

In Security, UNCHECK everything.

Skip SMBIOS

Skip Root Patching

In App, check Allow Native Models and Remove Unused KDKs.

Then click return.

Then click Build and Install OpenCore

Let it build, then click Install to disk

Choose your startup drive

Choose the EFI partition

Let it install, then reboot your Mac.

@abdulbamally - When rebooting, press and hold the Option key on your keyboard. This will open Startup Manager. Click the blue icon that says EFI Boot and click the Up Arrow. This will boot back into your Mac, and everything should work well.

Let me know what happens, and we'll go from there!

Best of luck!

@abdulbamally - If you need me to clear up something I will be more than happy to. I just hope these instructions are clear and you get the Mac up and running again.

Let’s get a bit more info on what’s happening here. Let’s see if the onboard diagnostics gives us a clear error. Restart your system an press the D key to enter, let us know what diagnostics reports.

Reference: Mac startup key combinations

you also will want to install this gem of an App CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the Apps main window and post it here so we can see how the battery looks as well. it’s possible the battery is defective.
