I do have an old mid 2015 MacBook which I removed the broken display unit. Now a friend of mine, has a mid 2014 wich turn occasionally off. We swapped the heat paste, but this did not fix it. So does anybody know, if I can mount the working display of the 2014 on the 2015 or are there any incompatibilities, you know of?

Sorry the older 2014 display assembly won’t work with your 2015 system. The cable connection standard changed from iDP 1.0 to eDP 1.5.

@livfe - Not following you here. I hadn’t seen your answer as I was interrupted by my dogs needs. Here’s a bit more Introduction to Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) version 1.5 and DisplayPort which is a bit messy to read.
Very sad, but thanks anyway. At least I will not waste some time!
