Power issue - 3ds 2012 japan motherboard missing components

I have a 2012 3DS. It was having an issue with charging and power. The orange light would come on for five seconds whilst charging and then go off and would only boot during those five seconds whilst it was connected to the charger. The DS was not dropped or water damaged or anything, it literally just turned off and wouldn’t turn back on whilst I was playing a game.

I have checked the F1 and F2 fuse, the F2 fuse was bad and I have replaced that however, I have noticed there is a missing component next to it.

When I bridge the space where the component is missing the board functions fine. However I do not want to leave it bridged as that component is to protect the board, probably from a short as it is connected directly to the battery power line.

I have attached some photos of my board highlighting the missing component as well as a photo from I fix it to show the component that is missing. I believe it is some kind of resistor.

If anyone knows what this component is and where I could potentially get it I would be appreciated.

Hi Tyler!

I don’t think it’s a fuse! I think it’s a resistor or something. Fuses are marked with “F” for the 3DS. But not 100% sure what kind of component it is. As long as you bridge it, and it works, it does sound like a super small fuse… I think it’s fine if you keep it bridged tho.
