iPhone XR not charging & Restarting

I have an iPhone XR which I got in faulty condition with a cracked display and faulty battery, When I initially got it, I tried plugging kit in to see what would happen but it showed no visible signs of life and instead got quite warm - I assumed this was due to the faulty battery so proceeded with the repair (Was told the phone would take close to 24 hours to fully charge)

I replaced the screen and battery without any issues and it initially started up just fine, although it kept on restarting over and over again which I blamed on the new battery not being calibrated. As the phone was draining quite quickly, I decided to plug it in to charge, although to my surprise would not charge and still got very warm.

Trying a cheap wireless charge did not change anything. All replacement parts were of high quality from a reputable source.

When I was initially working on this phone, when connecting the wireless charger or plugging in the charger, the phone would show the battery flat logo and battery flat logo + charger logo when no charging method is connected.

Fast forward a few months and I am going trough my pile of phones still under repair and I thought I would give it another shot although now nothing comes up at all even when left to charge for a while.

Does anyone have any theories on what's wrong? Personally, I suspect the Hydra IC. board level micro soldering is not something I have the tools for or much experience in, but would like to get into it at some point.

Based on what you've said, I am also likely to think this is a board level issue, but if you happen to have any know good parts lying around, I would test with just the bare basics and see what you get.

Take the board and and connect a known good charge port, battery and screen and see what happens then. If you're still getting the same issue, then board for sure.

If it is a board level issue this could be a Hydra problem, but I am almost more likely to think Yangtze, which is the battery charge chip itself. Hydra is more related to USB communications, but it often takes the brunt of damage where low quality or shoddy chargers are concerned. I find that Yangtze is more often at fault in these kind of situations on post iPhone 7 models. And Yangtze is far easier to replace on the XR.

Tristar/Hydra replacements are a good place to start if you're looking to get into microsoldering (do it, it's a good skill to have, on top of being loads of fun), but the XR isn't a phone I would recommend for beginners. Most experienced techs dislike working on XRs for a few reasons, The board shields are extremely stubborn, and it's risky to even try and remove them. And if Hydra is the problem, it's a bugger to replace. It's extremely close to the CPU—it's difficult to remove and easy to damage vital components. Image below for reference. CPU on the right, Wifi IC on the left all surrounded in epoxy. -_- Not my favorite repair.
