How to install OS on a newly added SSD?

Please provide details on how to install / copy lion os from the original hdd from a mac mini summer 2011 to the newly added ssd using the iFixIt hack.

I used Time Machine to backup everything on to the ssd. Is this a good thing to do? How do I safely boot from this hdd?

[I have no idea what will happen if I try to boot from this ssd, namely the Time Machine copy]

What is a good way to go about configuring the freshly added ssd to run OS on my 2011 mac mini? Thanks.

Hm, I don't know If you can boot from a timemachine backup, but I doubt it..

What I've done is simply clone from HDD to SSD with carbon copy cloner and changed the boot drive to the SSD, on the next startup your mac will boot from the SSD

Thank you for answering so fast.

Carbon Copy Cloner did the trick for me.

It did take some searching for details on how to install and use the software but after copying everything I am now running Mac OS 10.7.3 on my newly bought 2011 Mac Mini, using a SATA 3, 60Gb SSD mounted as secondary drive.

I've also upgraded the memory from 2Gb to 8Gb. Also kept the original [and slow] 500Gb hdd for storage.

I am about to do some speed tests right now.
