(SOLVED!) DIY upgrading WXGA+(1440x900) to WSXGA+(1680x1080)

For the last week I have been scouring the web looking for anyone to confirm or deny(with evidence) whether this is possible.

So far? I've found nothing. Not even someone else asking the question. But I cant be the first that's wanted to do this. Theres nothing on this site or any other that evens make reference to the version of this laptop with the HD display upgrade.

Can anyone outline any internal hardware/firmware limitations within a Macbook Pro uni-body(early 2011) that would stop me from replacing my 1440x900 display with the other possible version this model can come with, the 1680x1050 version.

Is there anyone out there able to make a side-by-side comparison of MBP 15"(uni-body), one with the normal display, one with the HD display?

Does the display connector look different? have more pins?

Thanks for any help. I really want to figure this out.

Update

Just an update on this. I upgraded my panel from a LP154WP4-TLA1 (low resolution glossy display) to the LP154WE3-TLB2 (high definition matte display) without a hitch.

Thanks again for the help!

The answer is yes, they are interchangeable as you explain it.

You are kind of demanding and I almost did not answer your question because of that. Go to my profile and read through my answers and you will find links showing the LVDS/video cable are the same and the LCDs are interchangeable, also click here for a thread discussing the compatibility. I don't have time to back up what I say with the evidence you seek. Enough people out there have done it to say it is something that can be done.

Thank you for the response despite my lack of tactful language. I certainly did not mean to come across as demanding :) The tone was purely that of slight frustration in my lack of success so far and determination to figure it out if no one else had, but as I suspected, you and many others have. I've just been looking in all the wrong places.

Cheers,

Darius

I understand and empathize with your position. Sometimes there is little to no documentation for Apple products. I apologize for my tone, it is frustrating to me when people want specific forms of "proof". I don't have the machine, currently, to give anyone "the proof". I have hundreds of hours, possibly thousands, into keeping up up these things. - So I can make money and properly advise people on them.

And people like me would be lost without people like you! I've been in your shoes enough times, trying to help people who are terse and expecting of my generosity, to realize how my message was read :)

Again, thank your the help! After looking through all the links you provided I learned how exactly it is possibly but also that I need to be very cautious about which brand and revision of HD display I purchase. They are clearly not all alike.

Thank you for your kind words and accepting my answer. I promise you the LVDS cables and corresponding signals going through them are the same for the "regular" and HD LCDs. There are several HD LCDs mentioned in the thread I provided that will work with your laptop.
