dell latitude 6420 Why dont my usb ports don't work
how can I activate my usb ports
Hi @arntdhondt
Check if the USB ports are supplying power to the connected device e.g. plug in a USB mouse and check if the laser lens turns on or a mobile phone to see if it starts to charge.
If no power is being supplied by the USB ports check the Power Management setting for the ports in Device Manager.
Go to Device Manager → Universal Serial Bus Controllers → click on the > symbol to the left of the category to expand the list → right click on USB Root Hub → Properties → Power Management → uncheck the option that states "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" → OK.
Do this for all the Root Hub entries listed in the category, then restart the laptop in the normal manner and check if the USB ports now all work OK.
To get into Device Manager in Win10/11, press the Win key and the x key (both together) then click on the Device Manager link that is in the menu options box that opens.

maybe the hardware issues on your chipset
usb drivers are corrupted or properly not installed.
or the device you trying to attach may be faulty etc.
