Why wont my iPod touch 2nd screen respond, even with new digitizer

Hello!

I bought an ipod touch 2nd gen a few years back, and just over a year ago i accidently dropped it into water.. well i was pushed into the sea and it was in my pocket :(

anyway! after breaking it i made the school boy error of turning it on straight away, and found the screen was working, but the touch sensitivity was unresponsive. i didn't place it into rice or anything like that, instead it was just thrown in my drawer. i presume the water that was in it will have dried out by now.

A few days ago i thought i would try to repair it, and ordered a new digitizer thinking that would solve the issue. after installing the screen, the home-button works, however the touch sensitivity remains unresponsive.

i looked on the internet to see how much it will be worth in its state, or to even repair it, and nobody seems to want to know! it seems a shame to have no other option but to throw it away. is there anyway i can repair it?

Thanks!

If you dropped it into Salt water, even though it dried out, you still have microscopic and salt particles that have dried onto the board. Since it still powers on...you may want to turn it off , pull the board and get some 92%+ alcohol with a brush and clean it, using a dry anti-static cloth to dab off the residue. Since their are salt particles on it, I would probably disconnect the + lead on the battery whereas if you push any conductive particles around it wouldn't short any circuits.

The 2nd gen's go for practically nothing online, but, it's worth a home project just to give it a shot at salvaging it. :)
