Dual hard drive installation issue with connector cable.

I'm trying to install a second hard drive in my mac mini and I am having a few issues getting things to fit. I think the connector cable that came with the ifixit kit may be too short or too long (depending on if I route it between or above the second hd.) I can force it to connect if I route the connector cable between the drives, however can't seem to line the antenna plate afterwards or close the machine up. The guide is very helpful - however becomes vague at towards the end re: how and where the second drive should fit. Does anyone have any tips or guidance?

Can you physically put the cover back on without installing the cable at all (with the antenna plate in place)? if not you may have too big a drive (height).

I'm assuming you have the 2011 version Mac Mini

The ribbon cable is sandwiched between the HD's just in the corner as it then routes up to the main logic bd.

The ribbon cable should just make it without any excessive slack. The primary drive should be resting flat just above the 2nd HD.

I suspect the 2nd drive below the primary drive is too big and is forcing the primary drive up preventing you to close the case. If you can get your hands on a Dial Caliper (metric) you could measure the height of the two drives. Your new drive should be no bigger than the Apple drive. Millimeters count here!
