Won’t turn on - flashing apple logo

Hi! I have an old iPhone 7 Plus that hasn’t been used in a couple of years. I’m trying to wipe it to re-use but can’t get it to turn on, it’s charged for 24+ hours but is getting stuck at the apple logo and then going black again.

I’ve tried the force reset with the side buttons but the only thing that does is stop it flashing up the apple logo while I’m holding them.

I tried to connect to a laptop with iTunes but the device doesn’t seem to be registering.

Is there anything else I can try or is the phone dead for good?

the battery could just be bad, get it replaced and see if that helps

yeah, gotta go with the answer from @tech_ni.

i'd recommend trying a battery replacement. 2 years in a drawer is a long time (in battery life) and if the discharge all the way, sometimes they can't charge back up. this is the exception, not the rule, but based on what you've given us, the battery is the logical first place to start.
