The 5th generation BMW 3 Series is based on the E9X platform. The car pictured is a E90 chassis. The E9X chassis was used from 2004-2013 when the F1X chassis was released. When talking about a non-specific chassis, this generation is typically referred to as the E9X chassis since there are multiple chassis for this generation of 3 series, depending on the body style (E90/E91/E92/E93).

10 BMW 328i, AWD 4X4 light on, sounds like I have a flat driving?

I purchased a 2010 BMW 328i from a dealership for 5k and about 1k in taxes, and the parts that I bought and replaced, all together it was a little over 6 grand and the person selling it said that he read the codes and it needed a transmission filter an fluid change and rear breaks. Driving it home it sounded like I had a flat tire coming from the rear, and I was under the impression that it was the breaks, and lights came on saying ABS 4x4 I ordered the parts and about 2 weeks later they came in an I installed everything, and when i start the car and start to drive the still ABS 4x4 light comes on, and it sounds like i have a flat coming from the back of the car, any ideas or suggestions on what it could be? I replaced the rear break pads, and brake sensor wire, and that didn't help with anything. Note when I bought the car and drove it home it was making this noise, but I was thinking after I fix the rear breaks it would go away, but it didn't. I greatly appreciate any tips, thank you very much, an I already know I am a dumbass for this purchase, but I bought this for my wife, just celebrated 25 years, 19married, she never had a nice car and she fell in love with this, but now its been in the driveway sitting for 3 months and she never got to drive it once, it still has the same mileage from when we bought it . Anyway long story short, I'm out of money and just want to fix the car for her. I currently drive a 2004 Ford Explorer with 292475 miles, so this was kinda of a big deal for her and us, we were supper exitcted to have a really nice car complety paid off, and as you can see, that blew up in my face. Again sorry so long, and thank you very much for any information or advice to get this car on the road again First pictures are normal scan

second set of pics is the full system scan

@unionmandan I know this sounds weird but can you describe this "it sounds like i have a flat coming from the back of the car" a bit better. Or you can even post a file with your QUESTION so we can hear it. Does it sound/feel like it is from one side or pretty much just from the rear wheels? Does it change with increased/decreased speed? Do you think there is any way you could get your hands on those codes or maybe get it rescanned? Congratulations to your anniversary and trust me we'll do what we can to help you all out. I am sure we'll get it one way or another.

To add a video etc. Use this guide. iFixitでの質問に画像を追加する方法 edit your Question and add the file.

@unionmandan - As @oldturkey03 mentioned, the scan codes would be a valuable aid to us in helping you figure out why the ABS light is on. If you can't get them from the original seller, most auto parts stores here in the US will scan your car for free and give you the codes that are present. I've also seen several auto repair shops advertise free code scans, so keep an eye out for those too.

@oldturkey03 Hello, and thank you for your response, and yes I will drive the car and record it and hopefully that will help, and i will rescan it again to see what codes are coming up, it started with 35 codes, which i got down to 9 and 4 of the 9 were for the lights, so i think 5 but i will post in a little bit, again thank you soo much for your time, an patience

@unionmandan I wonder if what you experience like a flat is actually the DSC kicking in trying to do its job. Take a look on here as well as this on to check the ABS ring and sensors. The DSC components are under the Brake section in the service manual. BMW E90 BrakesCheck those parts and see if that sheds a bit more detail into that. It's a challenge to do this over the internet (kind of like adjusting a carb with a long screwdriver through the tailpipe) but no matter how frustrating it can get, eventually we should get there. Would be easier to wrench on this on a Saturday while drinking a beer and all but this will have to do :-) I am sure my colleague @dadibrokeit will agree with me on that.
