Which screw do I need for metal plate?

Hi, yesterday I upgraded my SSD in the steam deck, worked without problems, unfortunately I lost the top left screw from the metal plate (which you have to remove to disconnect the battery and replace the SSD) I just can't find it, maybe it's even somewhere in the deck, but I wiggled super hardcore and nothing fell off.

So... I want a screw in there, it works without it, but I don't know if that's good. Has anyone any idea what screw I need?

Update (08/02/2022)

Btw my bought screw (M1.6 x 3mm DIN 965) fits perfectly

Hi,

See the Chosen Solution to this question

Also see Step.5 of the ifixit Steam Deck バッテリーの交換 guide to find the screw sizes and location for the 3 Philipshead screws required to secure the shield. Not sure if they are Philips #0 or Philips #1 though.

Hello, thank you.

I actually found this answer yesterday. But I can't find a screw like this to buy anywhere. M1.6x3mm 0,35 Pitch.. :(

@Sebastian Bruhns

Search online for M1.6 x 0.35p Metric Coarse Zinc countersunk Phillips 3mm screw (example only) to find suppliers that suit you best. (click on "Choose an option" to see screw lengths available)

I should mention, that I live in Germany. I don't want to wait for shipping over a month or so. Haha. (and I really don't find any screws like this in germany...)

I don't even know if it's really that bad, that this one screw is missing.

In the picture from step5 battery replacement, it's the top left screw. The plate sit pretty flush, just not super tight there, but I think under the Heatshield there are thermal pads, they should make good contact.

Or I should say... I did find some screws, but I don't know if the pitch is right. Or is it always the same? idk

Ok, I think I found something. DIN 965 M1.6x3

I did order it. Hopefully this will work.

@Sebastian Bruhns

Pitch can vary as it is the distance between each thread in the screw.

This can also be known as TPI (threads per inch). Basically the number of threads along the shaft of the screw per given distance.

Sometimes screws may be called coarse or fine. Again this refers to the number of threads. Coarse are usually used in wood or thin metal and fine for thicker metals or if a stronger screw is needed.

If the pitch is too big, and if the hole that the screw is screwed into is a threaded hole with a smaller "pitch" (it already has threads that the screw would screw into easily if they were both the same size), it may not screw in too easily or perhaps it may cut its own thread as you screw it in

Hopefully i haven't confused you further.
