How do I fix blinking blue horizontal lines on a mid 2009 MacBook Pro?

Originally this laptop would not turn on because something was wrong with the RAM. After fiddling with it a while i figured out the bottom RAM slot was broken and I tried some crude fixes which didn't work. Throughout that testing and turning on and off the machine it seemed to work fine, but shortly after closing up the computer after trying to see if I could wedge a card between the RAM slots the screen started blinking. Not sure if I did something. Is there anyway to fix this?

You'll need to see if an external display (via the Mini DisplayPort) also shows the same effect.

This still could be a bad RAM slot as the main RAM is used for video buffering or it could be a bad display. If the problem is seen on the external then the RAM slot and/or RAM SO-DIMM is bad.

@danj The problem was not visible on the external display so it must be a problem with the internal display.

@clare4300 That nails it! New display time.

There is two roads here! The easy approach but the more expensive replacing the full assembly MacBook Pro 13インチ Unibody Mid 2009のディスプレイの交換 or the cheaper but more work replacing the LCD alone, but more work! MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 LCDの交換

The needed part is listed in each guide.

@danj Thanks. It's an old machine that's not being used and I wanted to see if there was an easy way to fix but since there isn't I probably won't fix and just see if anything needs to be transferred off of it.
