VRAM Thermal pads thickness?
I don't know what millimeter thickness VRAM thermal pads I should get for my iMac 27" 5K Retina late 2014 (A1419 model). Anyone know the answer?

Apple has used a few different VRAM's which are different heights. Apple moved to a gapping paste (not as good as a pad) so they don't deal with the issue.
I would dry fit the heat sink and then use some strips of card stock to see what is needed to be sure. I've got a a few sheets of different thicknesses so I always have what's needed.

Not really sure what dry fit means, but when it comes to measuring the height. How would I do that?

That's the cooler with the GPU cooler to the right. Would I just measure the depth from the bottom of the VRAM "grooves" to where I'd be flush with the metal of the GPU part? Not really sure how to measure this.
Mount the heat sink on the board with no paste or pads and get some cardstock and put it where the pads would go and measure many papers it takes to fill the gap. Then take that amount of paper and measure how thick it is and round up to the nearest thermal pad thickness. I am pretty sure that is what @danj meant at least.@johan-82
@johan-82 - Get a few index cards or other solid material which you can stack up. Cut up a half dozen thin strips the size of one of the VRAM chips or slightly smaller. Now with no TIM or even mount the CPU//GPU if its removable. Place the heat sink into place so its where it would be squarely. Now take a few strips stacked up slipped into the gap between the VRAM chip and the heat sink from the side and then press the heat sink down so it's tight. Pulling on the strips should be snug not loose and not hard that's the value you want. Take the collection and now using a caliper measure the thickness round up to the nearest half millimeter thats the needed size.
