How to clean off swirl marks on 47" matte LCD left by windex?

The model this site made me choose is not my model, its a Sharp Aquos, but its a 47” model from 2006.. way over paid at 3500 bux back then, but it had 1080p and 2, count’em 2, HDMI ports, which back then was a 500 dollar option… anyway, its still great looking, but I tried to clean it with a terry cloth and Windex like a dummy, and I cant get these finger width swirl marks to go away, they are not scratches, just ugly swirl marks… anyone know what to do? I am hesitant to use anything abrasive, and I have used the head light clearing kits on my trucks just fine, but I dont think its the right to use here based on what I know of the process. Any ideas?

@konig1981 if they are just swirl marks they should come out by using a microfiber cloth (wet or damp) and some gentle cleaning. My concern here would be that this is actually an abraded area which would really complicate things. If those are scratches you best get used to it since there is not a lot you can do. Sure, there are some suggestions about silicon application or using one of those anti-glare sheets to cover the complete screen, but it is more hit and miss on those situations.

Do not use any other abrasive or cleaner since that may just exacerbate this situation.

They are definitely not scratches… I could believe that they are harsher than normal swirl marks…they litterally look like my fingers making lines…but I didnt use anything but microfiber..I just think the windex was sticky and set in… Ive tried to use windex again, with micro fiver, and tried warm water too… it does change, slightly improve…I was able to clear more than half of them..but these last few are being stubborn

Try using a lens or screen cleaning solution. Might get residue off if there is any, and if you have one of the REALLY soft cloths like for cleaning Eyewear, might be better.

I guess I’m going to order 2 or 3 different formulas…each one slightly more aggressive than the last.

Maybe I will get lucky, allowing me another ten years maybe. If I hadn’t been born in 1981 then I would be able to just pitch it out and move on to some sort of 80 inch 4k or 8k, curved screen…that talks to Space-X and has all the TV streaming services I don’t subscribed to. I must be the last generation that cant throw out giant TVs, just out of principle… just like my father and his old timey radios.

So anyway, does anyone have any positive results with any specific cleaner when used on a matte finish screen like this one? Any horror stories or horror products to for sure avoid? Thanks again
