Screen is white on startup.

You may have a problem with the LVDS cable (video cable) between the motherboard and the LCD panel. It may be loose at the LCD panel end. Worst case it that it is a faulty LCD panel.

The LVDS cable is actually two cables in one. At the motherboard end it is terminated on the one connector plug, but at the LCD panel end it is split between two connector plugs. One is for the video display and the other is for the LCD backlighting which lights up the screen.

Go to p.54 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the LCD unit. This will allow you to check if the cable connection is OK.

If the LVDS cable connections on the LCD panel (and on the motherboard - check to make sure it is also OK) are OK then you will have to replace the LCD panel.

Here’s the parts list for the laptop. Click on Select Commodity > LCD panels (5) to find the part numbers for all the compatible models. Note that there are mainly two types, FHD and HD. Sometimes the part number can be found on the back of the LCD panel itself, if you wish to verify that you’re getting the correct one. Search online using the part number only to get results for suppliers that suit you best.
