How to change motherboard

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop’s vga or HDMI port (TV?) and check if you get a display on it. Remember to toggle press Fn + F10 (both together) to get either the laptop display only, external display only or both displays on together.

If the external display doesn’t work either then you have a motherboard problem. You may have to contact the seller about this if it was guaranteed working.

If the external display is OK, with the laptop turned on, try shining a torch at an angle close to the laptop’s screen and check if you can detect any images at all on the screen. They will be very faint if they are there, so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.

If you can see images then there is a backlight problem with the screen.

Was the battery still disconnected from the motherboard when you connected the display cable to the motherboard? If not, you may have damaged the backlight power circuit (e.g. inverter board) in some way in the display or the LVDS cable (video cable) is not connected properly or is faulty etc.

If you can’t see any images check if the LVDS cable is correctly inserted into the motherboard and if so you may have to verify that it is securely connected at the screen end and that it is OK and not faulty by checking each wire for continuity from end to end.

What is the make and model number of the motherboard, (printed on the motherboard itself)? Usually it is easier to find the schematics (if they’re available) by searching for the motherboard rather than the laptop’s make and model number. Search online for (insert motherboard make and model number) schematic, to hopefully find them. The schematics make it easier to locate where the backlight power comes from to get to the inverter board and then from the inverter board to the display
