help: Samsung CFG70 monitor, is this board damage repairable?

Hi all,

I have this samsung CFG70 curved monitor that I tried to mount to a vesa stand (It's curved so it wasn't a great idea in the first place). I mistakenly used screws that were too long and managed to screw into one of the main board parts, does this look repairable?

After removing the damaged part (which had the same G702K label as the part immediately below it), it looks like there might be some trace damage. So I was thinking my options are:

1.Buy the exact replacement part and try to solder it back on (https://www.alldatasheet.com/view.jsp?Se...)

2.Try to find the exact same main board (noting it's a discontinued model), or another broken samsung monitor which has the same part on the mainboard

3.Give up

Does anyone have experience with this issue or have any thoughts?

Hi,

Is the part information still visible on the damaged part(s)?

Which "exact" part have you linked?

Looking at the list you linked, the "descriptions" of each of the part types cover a lot of different types of components.

Having the schematic would help. Then you could see how the component fitted int the circuit and wire in a replacement as you would know where it was connected to.

You could do this by tracing connections back from where the component was situated and then wiring from the other components to the replacement component which could be mounted on a piece of electronics breadboard (example on to show what I mean) or pcb etc.

What is the "board model number" (printed on the board itself)? use it to hopefully find the schematics e.g. search for (insert board number) schematics.

The alternative is to find a replacement board if the price is right, from either the same model monitor which has a broken screen or is just for sale separately and use it instead

Hi jayeff, thanks for your lightning fast reply!

Unfortunately I've misplaced the original part since my original attempt to remove it, but I do recall it was the same part number as I mentioned in the initial post. Note I actually posted the wrong link, it’s been updated now with the exact part.

As per the third image, the exact board model number is BN41-02548, but I can't appear to find a schematic on it :( and yes a replacement board would be ideal, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye out (noting that the monitor is now discontinued).

Did you have any insight on how to find the exact schematic?

Thanks so much for your help!

@ derek hou

Usually if available, the schematics can be found by searching for "BN41-02548 schematic" but unfortunately there were no results.

I did find this supplier of the board (double check if it is the exact one) but it may then depend on the price you're prepared to pay.

Looking at the datasheet of the part you linked it should be easy enough to work out which way it was orientated on the circuit board so that you can wire it in.

The thing that I forgot to ask was, was the monitor powered on at all after you screwed it in?

If so then there may be more damage, electrical this time and not physical, which would be harder to find especially without the schematic.

Yes it was powered on after the initial damage unfortunately, and I noticed some of the pads came off when I removed the part as well.

so I take I'd have to use copper wires to connect directly to the traces as well as solder to have any chance for the repair (which may not work) :( I'll see if I can order all the parts and give it a try!

@ derek hou

That's about right.

Either to the traces or directly using longer wires to the components that connect to the traces closest tt where the faulty was was located.

Make sure that the replacement component/wiring etc doesn't short out anything.

Good luck
