Different issues caused by two different t-con boards

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago my LG UH630V 4k TV started flickering. The image would be fine for 3 seconds, then flicker for 3 seconds, then be fine again, then flicker again, and so on. It was just like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWD0U1N2....

I followed the method shown there and elsewhere of applying a small amount of tape to the LVDS cables. Unfortunately, a further issue occurred in the process. The screen was now much more broken, showing chunks of vertical white lines, like this:

(Note: this isn’t actually an image from the time, this is an image of what happens now with the first t-con board in and one LVDS cable removed. I didn’t think to take any photos at the time, but this is a good approximation of how it looked).

Based on posts I’d seen, I ordered a replacement t-con board and LVDS cabes. When I came to install them today, I realised I’d ordered the wrong width of LVDS cables. However, I installed the t-con board, and had some success. The image was back and the flickering was gone. Unfortunately, the image wasn’t perfect: up close, you could see that the image was divided into lines ( I can’t find an image for this).

I was about to order some new LVDS cables to help with this. Unfortunately, I’ve now got another issue: the backlight doesn’t turn on. When I turn the TV on, the red LED blink 3 times, and there is no image.

Just out of interest, I thought I’d see what happens with the old, faulty t-con board installed. Weirdly, the red LED still blinks 3 times, but the backlight does turn on with this board in. With this board (t-con 1) and both LVDS cables plugged in, the image looks like this:

What could be causing this? Should I get another t-con board? It seems like the second t-con board must be causing the issue with the backlight, and I’m hopeful that with a working replacement and some replacement LVDS cables, the TV will work again. However, I’m concerned that the “new” t-con board has apparently broken within a day, and I don’t want to keep throwing good money after bad.

Any help greatly appreciated!
