What do I need to check to see why I have no picture

I recently got a tv from my wife's uncle after he said he couldn't figure out what was wrong. I did the normal tests and it powers on and has the little chime. The screen is backlit but there is no picture.

Hi @bendelvaux ,

Can you view the TV menus OK?

If not them most probably the problem is the mainboard.

If so if possible have you tried connecting a signal source to all input types i.e. RF (coax), HDMI, Component video + audio (red, blue, green + red and white) Composite video (yellow + red and white) to see if any of them are working OK?

If none working most probably it is the mainboard.

If some input types are working OK e.g. Component and Composite video but not HDMI then most probably there is a problem with the DSP (digital signalling processor) on the mainboard or perhaps the HDMI controller on the mainboard, but as a DIY repair it is easier to replace the mainboard than to try and fix it at board level

Next step, would be to use a flashlight and see if you can see any picture, assuming tv is staying on after chime and possibly audio is heard while using the remote arrow keys. Best case scenario its bad led strips.

Well the problem is when I received it, it didn't come with a controller. so all I have is the power button at the bottom of the tv.
