USB not detected by USB port

What is the model number of the TV?

Have you got another USB that you know works with the TV to see if that still works OK?

The model number of the TV is LG 42LK40-TB.

I have only one usb sir and It is a new one..

Has any USB drive worked OK before on the TV?

What capacity is the USB?

Is it a flashdrive or a HDD (hard drive)?

If a flashdrive it has to be ≤32GB and if a HDD it has to be ≤1TB. Also if it is a HDD and it has its own power supply then you have to use it as the TV USB port only supplies 0.5A (500mA) which may not be enough for a large capacity HDD which needs its own power supply

Does the USB have a light indicator to tell you that the power is connected?

The USB has to be formatted in either FAT32 or NTFS (both formats available in Windows)

If the USB is as above i.e. correct format and capacity, you may first have to try another USB drive to prove whether the problem is with the TV or the USB drive that doesn't work.

I realize that it worked when you transferred your files to it etc from a computer but maybe the TV is a bit more fussy as the TV user manual (see Manual and Documents link on the right side of the page) shows on p.55-56 there are a lot of things that have to be right for it to work OK.

@jayeff No the previous usb that I borrowed didn't work either

Mine is a flash drive and its capacity is 128 gb.

The maximum capacity for a flashdrive to work is 32GB or less.

What was the capacity of the USB that you borrowed? If greater than 32GB it won't work either.

Were they formatted in either FAT 32 or NTFS?
