Hi, am sorry to pick up the wrong model but I currently have a Asus Vivobook 17 M712D, It has 8GB ram and am planning to upgrade to 32GB of ram. What are the advantages to upgrading ram on this types of laptops? Thanks

Why do you need so much ram?
In the end performance is limited by the CPU type and motherboard i.e. chipset as this is where the bottlenecks usually occur.
Depending on the actual specifications of your model, e.g. installed CPU, GPU etc, according to this review "the notebook is suited for various office applications and can also run simple or older games on low settings”.

I feel that having 8GB installed isn't enough for multitasking, YouTube videos, and feels a bit snaggy. I though upgrading to a 32GB ram will increase the performance of this machine.
Not sure that your model even takes 32GB.
According to this link (admittedly not for a M712D model which I can't find in Asus website only specs for M712 models showing different cpu, gpu hdd or/ssd etc) it only supports 16GB
Is there an SSD in your model?
Yes, it currently has the western blue 256GB SN550.
I was wrong, it has an HDD hard drive as its a western blue hard drive.
You will see better overall performance with a SSD installed as well as a ram upgrade, but 16GB should be enough (and maybe all that can be installed anyway)
